Springfield Police report violent crime in the city is down 21 percent over the past year.
The department released statistics from September 2025 to September 2026 on Friday afternoon.
Property crime reports during the same 12-month period declined by 17 percent after dropping by about 13 percent from 2024 to 2025.
Springfield Police reported a 4 percent decline in all crime statistics so far in 2026.
The department credits several programs, including the Real Time Information Center and other online platforms as well as real-time intelligence including license plate readers, ShotSpotter and drones.
