The Fourth District Appellate Court has denied an appeal to dismiss the second-degree murder conviction of Sean Grayson.

Grayson died in custody of complications from cancer in Rhode Island on August 23 while serving a 20-year prison sentence.

Grayson was convicted of the fatal shooting of Sonya Massey in her Springfield home in 2024 while he was a sheriff’s deputy responding to a burglary call.
