Work begins today on a year-long improvement project on Peoria Road and Sherman Boulevard in Springfield and Sherman.
The Illinois Department of Transportation said work on the four-mile-long segment will include resurfacing, new traffic signals, guardrails, curbs and gutters.
Lane closures are expected. Work on the $10 million project is expected to continue into July 2027.
