Springfield Mayor Misty Buscher has announced she will run for a second term.
Buscher served two terms as city treasurer before defeating incumbent Mayor Jim Langfelder in 2023. Buscher announced her campaign at Boondocks on Friday. About a dozen protesters stood outside the club during the event, including Ward 3 Alderman Roy Williams.
The Central Illinois Building and Trades Council presented Buscher with a $150,000 check in support of her bid.
