Work begins this morning on Carpenter Street in Springfield between 4th and 7th streets.
Westbound traffic will be reduced to a single lane while both eastbound lanes remain open.
Traffic signals will be upgraded and intersection sightlines will be improved.
Work is expected to continue into December with various lane closures.
