Sangamon County Sheriff’s Deputy Resigns Over DUI Arrest

A probationary Sangamon County Sheriff’s Deputy as resigned after being arrested for a DUI by the Illinois State Police.

Sangamon County Sheriff Paula Crouch got the notice for ISP about Matthew Klenke on July 12th.

Klenke was immediately placed on administrative leave as an internal investigation began.

The investigation concluded on July 16th and it was then when Klenke submitted his resignation waiving any disciplinary hearings.

Klenke had been with the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office since Jan 4th, 2026.
