Sometimes it is best to do addition by subtraction and that is what will be done at the Illinois State Fairgrounds as demolition begins on Building 29 on the Fairgrounds.
The building that once served as the dorm for 4-H students was deemed uninhabitable in 2012.
Illinois Capital Development Board Executive Director TJ Edwards, whose organization will oversee the demolition, said “Demolition projects are a critical part of capital planning, allowing the State to address aging and deteriorating infrastructure and prepare sites for future use.”
