The Citizens Utility Board is warning against bad alternative power supplier deals, noting that Ameren Illinois’ summer supply price is likely the best option.

Ameren’s summer supply price through September is 11.326 cents per kilowatt-hour.

The utility watchdog said that price is 39 percent higher than two summers ago, but the price is expected to go down in October.

CUB says when considering alternative suppliers, be wary of low introductory rates, add-on monthly fees and force majeure provisions.
