The summer season at Lincoln’s New Salem State Historic Site near Petersburg begins with Pioneer Days on Friday and Saturday.
Costumed interpreters will demonstrate life in the 1830s including blacksmithing, quilting, open-hearth cooking, games and more.
A free round-trip shuttle from Springfield will run twice both days, leaving Springfield at 9 am and 1 pm and returning from Petersburg at 1 and 5 p.m.
