Titans 5 Game Win Streaked Snapped In Loss To Rochester

The Glenwood Titans came into Friday night’s game with the Rochester Rockets with a 5 game win streak. The Titans ended the game with their win streak snapped and their starting QB injured. The Titans found themselves down 7-0 53 seconds into the game thanks to a 29 yd TD run by Illinois commit Hank Beatty. The score would be 14-0 Rochester at the end of the first quarter. The Titans would get on the board in the 2nd on a fantastic one handed catch in the corner of the endzone by Miles Stapleton. That score made it 14-7 Rochester and that would be as close as the Titans would get. A score from Rochester followed by an interception and another Rocket score found the Titans down 28-7 at the half.
The Titans knew a comeback against the number 1 team in the state in 5A would be daunting but they were thrown an extra degree of difficulty when starting QB Jack Knudson came up with an injured left shoulder and would not play in the 2nd half. Sophomore back up QB Jacob Ahlberg struggled early in the 2nd half but found Zeke Baxter for a 69 yard TD pass late in the 3rd quarter to make it 35-13 at the end of 3. Ahlberg would find the endzone 2 more times on the ground in the 4th quarter but it wasn’t enough as the Titans fell to the Rockets 49-28 the final. The Titans are now 5-2 on the season and will head to Memorial Stadium next Friday to take on the Lanphier Lions.
